Zinnia Mukherjee Joined Connecticut College: 2009 Specializations:
Zinnia Mukherjee joins the Connecticut College faculty as a visiting instructor of economics. Zinnia is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the economics department at the University of Connecticut, where she has been an instructor of economics since spring 2006. At UConn, she has taught a variety of undergraduate courses, including Microeconomics (principles and intermediate), Mathematical Economics, Public Finance, Government and Industry, International Economics and Econometrics. Currently, Zinnia is finishing up her dissertation, which deals applying economic principles in finding effective measures to protect endangered species. In particular, she looks at the effectiveness of voluntary approaches and the role of background regulatory threat in mitigating stochastic sea turtle bycatch and the welfare effects of unilateral conservation policies in an open economy. In addition to her dissertation, her research includes analyzing behavioral responses of fishers to marine hypoxia, with specific focus on the Long Island Sound fisheries.
