Course Reserves
A resource covering the policies and procedures for using the Libraries’ course reserve systems. Both print and media Items may be placed on reserve at Shain Library and Greer Music Library. The WebCT course management system provides access to all e-Reserve materials.

CTW Catalog
Shain Library offers a collection of more than 500,000 books and bound periodicals, along with an extensive collection of microforms, computer files, audio and video tapes. The collection is augmented through a partnership with Trinity College and Wesleyan University known as the CTW Consortium. All three libraries are united by a state-of-the-art electronic catalog available via the Internet, making a total of 2 million titles available to students through a daily delivery service. Digital Commons
Repository for college publications in digital format, including some senior honors papers.

 

Digital Curriculum Center
The DCC provides faculty with resources for the creation of digital assets (PDF, graphics, audio and video) for the purpose of direct curriculum support. It has both the equipment and personnel to create a wide variety of projects. The DCC also assists faculty in selecting appropriate technologies for the purpose of supporting pedagogical goals.

 

Information Literacy at Connecticut College
"To be information literate, a person must be able to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information." Ingenta
Ingenta is a document delivery service providing access to articles in journals not held by Shain Library. Ingenta is limited to faculty and staff use as there is a charge per article (which will be paid by the Library). Faculty are asked to carefully check the CTW catalog and online journal list before requesting an article from Ingenta.


Liaison Program
Reference liaisons are subject area specialists who provide instruction and develop collections that serve the educational and research needs of academic departments. Liaisons offer individual and group instruction in the use of the online catalog and research databases, orientation to information resources, and guidance for research projects.

 

Open Access Publishing/Issues in Scholarly Communication
Information pertaining to the Library's support of Open Access publishing and an overview of the current issues in scholarly communications.

 

Personalized Research Sessions
Research Librarians can help you to develop a research strategy for locating information on your topic, find answers to specific questions, select and evaluate authoritative information resources, locate books and other library materials in the CTW Consortium and through Interlibrary Loan, and offer general instruction in the use of library materials and equipment.

 

Plagiarism Resources for Faculty
A list of links to plagiarism detection sites and online term paper mills along with a brief outline on detecting and preventing plagiarism.

 

Research Support and Instruction
The Research Support and Instruction staff in conjunction with the Libraries' Departmental Liaisons program are ready to assist faculty by providing instructional support to enhance the teaching of research and critical thinking skills in the classroom.
