Connecticut College student on a camel

Connecticut College has a long tradition of recognizing the importance of international studies and study away. This is reflected in our mission statement: "Connecticut College educates students to put the liberal arts into action as citizens in a global society."

College wins 2009 award for campus internationalization

Connecticut College received the 2009 Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization from NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the world’s largest professional international education association, in recognition ot its outstanding and innovative efforts in campus internationalization. The College is one of five institutions selected to receive the award, named for the late Senator Paul Simon (D-Ill.), a strong supporter of international education and advocate for international exchange. Camels abroad

55% of Connecticut College students study away during their junior year through carefuly selected programs. The College has established long-term relationships and affiliations with institutions that offer students a variety of outstanding study programs throughout the world.

Other international opportunities

Study Away/Teach Away (SATA) sends 10-20 students and faculty members to host institutions throughout the world to complete a full semester of scholarly activity while being immersed in the local culture. The program has an incredible impact on the amount and breadth of knowledge possessed by Connecticut College students, no matter what their major.

The Traveling Research and Immersion Program (TRIP) creates transforming learning opportunities for small groups of faculty and students by providing academic/research immersion experiences at domestic and international sites, often as a course component. The TRIP initiative makes use of traditional breaks during the academic year for travel.
