Summer Study at Connecticut College

The Connecticut College summer session offers diverse campus activities for resident and commuting students, members of the community, alumni, and senior citizens.

The six-week session includes credit courses taught by Connecticut College faculty and visiting instructors. Each credit course concentrates a semesters work into the session. Summer students may not take more than two four-credit courses during the session.

Registration in the Summer Session does not constitute admission to a degree-granting program at the College. Credit registrants must be graduates of an approved secondary school or equivalency program. Transcripts are required for enrollment in credit courses.

For Connecticut College students, courses taken in the Summer Session will count toward the College's two-year (64-semester-hour) residency requirement for the B.A. degree for matriculated students.

The Summer Session flier is available in March from the Office of Records and Registration. Or access the Summer Session Catalog online, including online registration.

Summer Study Elsewhere

Connecticut College students who wish to take summer courses elsewhere for credit must consult with the Office of Records and Registration as to the accreditation of the college or university to be attended, the relevant departments for approval of the courses to be taken, and the major adviser for the feasibility of the courses in relation to the students total college program.

A form with the required signatures must be filed with the Office of Records and Registration in ample time for approval before the summer work is undertaken.

Students may make up academic deficiencies by taking approved summer courses, and the grades received in summer courses are included in the cumulative average.

Students are advised not to embark on summer courses with the intention of accelerating before securing approval of their proposed plan in accordance with the conditions outlined under Academic Regulations and Degree Requirements.

Courses taken in the Connecticut College Summer Session will count toward the two-year (64-semester-hour) residency required for the B.A. degree. However, courses taken at other institutions will not count toward the residence requirement. Students are reminded that for courses taken at other institutions, all grades are posted and credits are translated to the Connecticut College system for posting on the permanent record.
