TRIP Japan 2006: March 11 to 23

"Look at the picture of Mt. Fuji above. It is a perfect one. It is rare to view Mt. Fuji like this in March. This tells you how fortunate my students were on their trip to Japan in 2006.

TRIP Japan 2006 was the most successful one to date. The students might have had an idea of what Japan is and/or how it looks. However, it seems that they decided to see Japan with their own eyes and feel it worth it through their own senses. While many of their experiences are worth of metioning, here is just a glimpse. " - Hisae Kobayashi, Senior Lecturer, Japanese at Connecticut College

Owen Raccuglia '08 with host family. Pease Pagoda (Park) located on the
way from Mt. Fuji to Hakone.

The homestay provided each student insights into everyday Japanese life. Unanimously, they agreed that it was one of the most memorable and exiciting aspects of their experience. What disappointed them during their stay with a Japanese family was that they were not allowed to help or assist their host mother. According to them, they were shooed out of the kitchen!
