The Forbidden City has become more than a museum of the past, and now sports many recreational and commercial facilities, such as the basketball court, shown here, innumerable shops, and even a Starbucks.   Although these bring revenue to the Chinese people and state, they may be seen as invasive upon and disruptive of historical treasures like the Forbidden City.
