Founded in 1823, this six-room museum is the home of the first government lighthouse in Connecticut.  If your children are interested in history, they may enjoy the exhibits on display depicting the history of the first Stonington settlers in 1649.

Your visit can include a climb to the tower for excellent views of Long Island Sound.  On a clear day, you can point out Fisher’s Island and let your children know that they are seeing another state!

During your visit, explain the purpose of a lighthouse to your children -- how it helps navigate boats and warn them of hazards.  Then let your children pretend it is a foggy night and they are the lighthouse masters!
