Make a Day of It! |

Groton
– Begin
at Sutton Park and let the children swing and slide at the playground or throw
basketballs.
Head to the Groton-New London
Airport
and watch the airplanes take off
and land. Finish
at Bluff Point where you can have a picnic, watch the airplanes again, take a
hike, throw pebbles in the water, or crab off of the rocks.
Collect treasures during your hike or walk along the beach and talk about
your day. |
| Mystic
– In
the summer months, you and your children can ride the trolley all day for a
nominal fee.
Start at the Old Mystic village, the Mystic Seaport
or the Aquarium, then
take the trolley back to Cottrell Street.
Bring the children to the playground before heading to the park to watch
the drawbridge open and the boats that pass through.
Get back on the trolley and simply ride through Mystic as long as you
want! New
London –
Start your day at the Lyman Allyn
Museum.
After your museum visit, head to the Connecticut College Arboretum and
hike the trails while you look for treasures.
When you get home, have the children draw their own museum pictures or
create sculptures with their findings. |

Start the day by visiting the Millstone Information and Science Center and then
head to the Children’s Museum.
Did you remember to pack a lunch?
Bring the family to McCook’s Park and playground or head to
Rocky Neck
State Park for a picnic.
Enjoy fishing or crabbing from the rocks or explore the caves and hiking
trails at Rocky Neck. |
| Stonington Village - Start your day at the playground on Gold Street. After climbing, sliding, swinging and digging are exhausted, take a walk down to the fishing docks. Then, go to Anguilla Gallery on Water Street where you can see a model of 19th century Stonington with running trains. Finally, head to the beach and wind down while the children dig and splash. |
| Waterford - Is it a breezy day? Grab a picnic basket and your kites and head to Harkness Memorial State Park. Spend the day exploring the gardens, visiting the mansions, eating your lunch, and flying your kites. Before you head home, stop at the playground at Great Neck School and let the children swing and slide until they are exhausted! |
