Italian, Italian Studies

The Department of Italian distinguishes itself for its solid program of study and training.

We offer numerous courses that help students master the language, explore a wide range of literary and cultural topics, and also the interactions between our discipline and others.

The acquisition of Italian as a foreign language allows a critical appreciation of its distinctive viewpoints and leads students to enhance their ability to compare these viewpoints with those of their own culture.

The study of Italian literature and culture with different professors exposes students to a variety of subjects and critical approaches.

Finally, the opportunity to study and work in Italy, through Connecticut College's excellent study abroad programs — as well as funded internships — allows students to be fully immersed in the Italian culture, thereby achieving a deeper understanding of its subtle nuances.
