SATA China 2009

SATA ChinaA new SATA program, SATA China, is planned for the Spring 2009 semester in Lanzhou, China.

Professor Qiang Ning of the Art History and Architectural Studies department will direct the program.

SATA China aims to enhance students' knowledge of Chinese cultural traditions and social customs as well as East Asian cultures and socieities in general.

Lanzhou University, one of the best universities in China and the northwestern region of Ganzu province, is the host institution for the SATA China program. Cities and villages located in this part of China retain traditional Chinese lifestyles, social customs and local cultures. Most of China's ethnic minorities live in this region.

The ancient Silk Road runs across northwestern China, providing many cultural relics to explore.

Interested Connecticut College students should contact Professor Ning or Shirley Parson, Director of National & International Programs.
