TRIP (Traveling Research and Immersion Program)

Zimmer and biolab students

On a TRIP.  Marc Zimmer, Barbara Zaccheo Kohn '72 Professor of Chemistry, and his first-year seminar students gather beneath a 300-year-old tree on Vieques Island, Puerto Rico. There, in the world's brightest bioluminescent bay, they went night-diving to find fluorescent corals.

Traveling Research and Immersion Program (TRIP) is a short-term (1-3 weeks), faculty-led trip to a site, either domestic or international, that is designed to give students a hands-on experience that has been crafted to complement the work of a specific course.

TRIP was conceived to create transforming opportunities for faculty and students by providing immersion experiences at domestic and international sites in order to deepen the intellectual discussion on campus.

TRIPs take place during the academic year between semesters, at spring break, or during the summer immediately at the completion of the academic year.
