Daghlian Ion Accelerator Laboratory
The accelerator lab began life in Holmes Hall in 1979 using a 400 kV High Voltage Engineering Van de Graaff accelerator. In 1985 the lab moved on-campus to Bill Hall. In 1994 we received a grant from NSF to purchase an entirely new accelerator. The old machine was retired (at least from Conn.) in May 1995.
The new accelerator is a 1 million volt Pelletron built by National Electrostatics Corp which was installed in the Olin building on Aug. 1, 1995.
