Solar System Astronomy is an introductory course for non-science majors that deals with the fundamental concepts and ideas germane to the science of astronomy.
The basic natural laws that govern the behavior of celestial objects are presented
and applied to the members of our solar system. In this course, students are
introduced to what is in the sky and how celestial objects move throughout the
year, telescopes, and how the astronomer uses light to study distant objects.
The student will then look in detail at the Sun, Earth, moon, and planets, and apply
basic astronomy, physics, and geology ideas to help understand the origin and
nature of these bodies.
