Spirit of solidarity and cooperation among Nikkeis
The Brazilian community in Oizumi shows a real spirit of solidarity and cooperation. They all work together, and in fact, many Nikkei Brazilians' jobs depend solely on the rest of the Nikkei community. This is obviously true for people who work in the stores at the Brazilian Plaza. For example, the rental video store has many tapes of old sitcoms and soap operas from Brazil, and every American movie is subtitled in Portuguese. Hence, the store relies entirely on the Brazilian community for its clientele. This dependence creates a strong bond among the Nikkei Brazilians in Oizumi and that is a major source of social cohesion.
