The Advantages of being a Nikkei in Japan
Clearly the biggest advantage of being a
Nikkei Brazilian is the availability of a working visa with no
restriction on place of residence or type of work. This visa can
be renewed, usually every 3 years and as many times desired.
The number of Nikkei-Brazilians (also known
as fake Nikkeis) has greatly increased over the past 4 years.
This is due to a new immigration law, which states that any person
of Japanese descent is allowed to bring his or her family and
work in Japan.Frankly speaking, I was not expecting to see that
many Brazilian Nikkeis in Oizumi.
Another advantage of being a Nikkei is to be part of a community where everyone shares common features, they all struggle searching for their place on the Japanese society. This may not be seen as an advantage at a first glace, however, this common characteristics led to a close community where everyone is willing to help one another. They know if they do not support each other withing the Brazilian community, maybe no one will.
