English majors are encouraged to study away or abroad as the work you do is well complemented by the knowledge of history, philosophy and literatures of other languages - which can be so richly experienced in a foreign environment.
Several departmental faculty members have participated in SATA (Study Away Teach Away), in which they've designed an appropriate curriculum and taken groups of students to Tanzania, India, Greece and Rome. Professor Julie Rivkin conducted a SATA Rome 2006, Cultural Crossings: Henry James and Others in Italy. Professor Janet Gezari accompanied several English majors on SATA India in Fall 2008.
Whatever your major, qualified students at Connecticut College are encouraged to study away or study abroad. Visit the global focus website for more information.
