"What I enjoy the most about teaching at Connecticut College is the opportunity teach a variety of courses at different levels. Whether it’s demonstrating to students the relevance of chemistry in everyday life or explaining a complex problem in Organic Chemistry, I hope to show by example that chemistry is fun and exciting."
Colleen S. Kaczmarek
Lecturer in Chemistry
With Connecticut College: 1997-2011

Specialization:
  • Organic chemistry
  • General chemistry
  • Molecular science

Colleen Kaczmarek began teaching at Connecticut College in 1997 as a laboratory instructor for both general and organic chemistry. She retired from teaching in 2011.

Although her graduate work was in organic synthesis, Colleen also has an interest in environmental issues that dates back to the first celebration of Earth Day when she was a freshman in college.

Since 2003, Professor Kaczmarek taught molecular science, a class in which she could show the connections between environmental issues and chemistry. She also taught first semester organic chemistry as a sabbatical replacement and co-taught the Freshman Seminar "Microbes, Molecules and More!"

Colleen was a Fellow of the Goodwin-Niering Center for the Environment.

Colleen taught the following courses: General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Molecular Science.
