Heather Doughty Joined Connecticut College: 2008 Specialization:
Heather Doughty is a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Band where she plays second horn and is the Chief Music Librarian. She has performed with the Coast Guard Woodwind Quintet and Brass Quintet and as a soloist on many Chamber Player Recitals. Over the past seven years, she has performed with the Band at Mount Rushmore, the Hatch Shell in Boston, Carnegie Hall, and at President Reaganīs and President Fordīs funerals. She has also performed with Mikado Ozone, Phil Smith, Laurel Ohlson, Shirley Jones, the Country Band, Lonestar and on the television show "The Price Is Right." In addition to the Coast Guard Band, Heather has performed with many chamber ensembles and orchestras across Connecticut; she has also played Solo E-flat Alto Horn with the Yankee Brass Band, a historically accurate Civil War Band. Heather has been a private horn instructor for 10 years and has been teaching horn at Connecticut College for several years. Her students have received top scores at the Eastern Region Music Festival, All-State Music Festival, and All-New England Music Festival auditions. Originally from Gilford, New Hampshire, Heather earned a Bachelor of Music Performance degree in Horn from Ithaca College and a Master of Music Degree in Horn Performance from The Ohio State University. Her principle teachers have been Ginger Culpepper, John Covert, Bill Bernatis, and Charles Waddell. Heather lives in Ledyard, CT with her husband, Bryan, and their three children, Brynn, Hayden, and Bryson. Visit the music department Web site. |
