Jim McNeish holds a Master of Music in Applied Classical Guitar fromYale University School of Music, New Haven, CT. (1996) He studied classical guitar with Benjamin Verdery, performed in masterclasses with Eliot Fiske, David Leisner, Jaap Schroeder, Ricardo Isniola, Michael Newman, Seymore Bernstein, and the Los Angeles guitar quartet. There he studied computer music programming with Jonathan Berger and arranging with Willie Ruff.

While earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Acoustics and Music from the College of Engineering, University of Hartford, Hartford, CT (1992), he studied acoustics with Robert Celmer and Craig Stalk and sound engineering with David Budries.

Earning a Bachelor of Music in Applied Classical Guitar. Hartt School of Music, Hartford, CT (1983), he studied classical guitar with Oscar Ghiglia, Robert Guthrie, Richard Provost and Alan Spriestersbach. He performed in masterclasses with David Tannenbaum, Manuel Barruecco, Sharon Isben, Nigel North, and Ben Verdery.

Currently with the Connecticut College Music Department (1983- present) as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music/Classical Guitar Performance and Engineer for the College's Cummings Electronic and Digital Sound Studios, McNeish is also the Director of the Thames Valley Music School (1993 - present).

Selected Performances by James McNeish:

Mr. McNeish is a member of the Connecticut College Chamber Players and has performed with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, the Goodspeed Opera Orchestra, the United States CoastGuard Band, and the Connecticut Orchestra. Mr. McNeish also performs regularly as a soloist throughout New England and has recorded 2 Classical Guitar Solo CD's and 1 Flute and Guitar CD.
