Gerald Moshell Visiting Professor of Music and Theater Joined Connecticut College: 2006 Specialization:
Gerald Moshell comes to Connecticut College on a two-year appointment (Fall 2006-Spring 2008) as Visiting Professor of Music and Theater. His tenure home is at Trinity College (Hartford, CT), where he is Professor of Music and where he has taught since 1977. Through the Connecticut College music department, Professor Moshell is conducting the Connecticut College Orchestra and teaching various classroom courses. Bridging his joint appointment in the music and theater departments is his work in musical theater, which will involve serving as both stage director and music director for several productions each year and, through the theater department, teaching related classroom courses. Professor Moshell has conducted and stage directed well over 200 productions on both the collegiate and professional levels, and he has also conducted hundreds of orchestra and choral concerts. In addition, as pianist, he has performed numerous times as soloist, chamber musician, orchestral pianist, and, most often of all, accompanist for instrumentalists and singers. He has published articles on Stravinsky and Sondheim; has written, for fifteen years, as both theater critic and music critic for The Hartford Courant; and was a member, for several terms, of the Connecticut State Arts Commission. He resides in Ledyard. Visit the theater department site. |
