Jeremy Nelson
Guest Artist, Dance Department

Jeremy Nelson (Guest Artist) was born in New Zealand. After training at the London School of Contemporary Dance he danced with the Siobhan Davies and Second Stride Dance Companies in London before moving to New York in 1984. From 1984 to 1992, he danced with Stephen Petronio Dance Company in New York. In 1991, Nelson received the New York Dance and Performance "Bessie" Award for his outstanding performance. He now works as an independent choreographer, teacher and dancer, and is on the faculty at Movement Research in New York.

His choreography has been performed in Venezuela, New Zealand, Sweden, England, Germany, Greece and Spain, and at Judson Church, PS 122, Dance Theater Workshop, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, and Danspace Project at St. Mark's Church in New York City. Mr. Nelson has been teaching classes and workshops all over of the world for the past 15 years; his recent residencies were at P.A.R.T.S, Anna Teresa de Keersmaaker's school in Brussels, the Kalamata Festival in Greece, Mexico, Canada and France.

He has studied Klein Technique TM for the past 15 years. This work along with his more recent studies in Alexander Technique and Contact Improvisation form the basis of his contemporary technique classes.
