Paola Sica Joined Connecticut College: 1999 Specialization:
Professor Sica earned a laurea in lettere moderne, summa cum laude (110/110 e lode) from the Universita' di Siena and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University, and was a lecturer in Italian at Princeton before coming to Connecticut College. Her teaching and research interests mainly focus on 20th century literature and culture. Her book, Modernist Forms of Rejuvenation: Eugenio Montale and T.S. Eliot, was published with Olschki (2003), and her numerous articles, translations and reviews have appeared in journals such as Modern Language Notes, Rivista di studi italiani, Italian Quarterly, Italica, Annali d’italianistica, Forum Italicum, Journal of Anglo-Italian Studies, Quaderni del novecento, and Yale Italian Poetry. The book that she is now completing focuses on identity, ideology and aeshetics in Florentine Futurist women’s work. She has presented her work here and abroad at invited lectures and conferences organized by several associations, including the Modern Language Association, the American Association for Italian Studies, the American Association of Teachers of Italian, and the Northeast Modern Language Association. Her most recent courses include: Identity and Place in Italian Culture, The Culture of Modernity, Italian Film and Literature, Sguardo sull’Italia and Passioni italiane: un’introduzione alla letteratura, al cinema, all’opera e all’arte.
