John Torrenti’s teaching experience includes thirty-five years for the Old Saybrook Schools as Chairman of Fine Arts, director of the concert band and concert choir, director of more than thirty-five musical productions, as well as guest conductor of several music festivals.

John is a graduate of Ithaca College School of Music where he earned two degrees; Bachelor of Science in Music Education, and Master of Science in Music Education with a concentration in Piano.

While at Ithaca College he was a student of Joseph Tague. During his years there, he performed with the college orchestra on its annual Concerto program and prepared and performed a solo recital as part of his master’s degree thesis requirement.

John has studied with several other pianists including Alton Jones of the Juilliard School of Music and Watson Morrison of the Hartt School, University of Hartford.

John was very active in the Connecticut Music Educators Associations, served as President, Chairman of Student Activities and Professional Affairs and the All State Music Festival. He also taught a music education course at Wesleyan University and teaches a music methods course at Connecticut College.

He has been teaching piano at Thames Valley Music School for fifteen years.

John continues to study the literature for the piano, is a church organist, and attends concert and opera performances all over the country.
