For International Applicants
Application Requirements & Deadlines
Admission to Connecticut College is competitive and highly selective. Each year a class of 490-500 students is selected from over 4,700 candidates. Connecticut seeks students from a variety of cultural, economic, racial, ethnic and geographical backgrounds who demonstrate academic and personal excellence.
The secondary school record is most important, but qualities such as leadership, intellectual curiosity, and accomplishment in non-academic areas are also highly valued.
In order to be considered for admission, international applicants must complete a pre-university course of study and submit the following documents by January 1 for September admission:
- A completed Connecticut College Supplement along with a completed Common Application, due January 1. No application fee is required of international students.
- An official record of secondary (or higher secondary) school work with all courses and grades, including examination results. Any necessary translations must be authenticated. In educational systems culminating with a national or provincial exam, please have your head or school or counselor assess the probable results of your final examinations.
- An explanation of the evaluation or grading system used by your school.
- A letter of recommendation from a school teacher.
- If the applicant's first language is not English, an official score report of the TOEFL Reasoning Tests, IELTS, ELPT or equivalent. Connecticut College's code for both the TOEFL and the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) is 3284. We seek candidates with a TOEFL equivalent of at least 600 (paper), 250 (computer) or 100 (Internet.)
- If you are not applying for financial assistance, an affidavit of the availability of funds to finance all four years of your education.
- We do not require standardized tests. Learn more about our standardized test policy.
