Financial Aid for International Students
Connecticut College is pleased to provide financial aid funding to a number of eligible non-U.S. citizens based entirely on demonstrated need. Competition for these scholarships is keen, and we look for students who have shown outstanding academic ability, a high level of competence in English, and notable non-academic involvement. We do not offer merit scholarships.
The most important step in the financial aid process is for you to provide financial information about you and your family. You should complete and return directly to the Financial Aid Office the following documents:
- International Student Financial Aid Application
- A statement from your parent(s) employer(s) indicating current annual wages, bonuses, and benefits (housing, automobile, education, etc.)
- On a separate sheet of paper, provide if applicable, your e-mail address and/or fax number
Please make sure you have answered all questions. Our staff will review the information provided and determine your level of eligibility for financial aid.
When you have been admitted to the College, your acceptance letter will include an offer of financial aid. Typically, this offer is in the form of grant funds. The amount of the grant is dependent upon financial need and budgetary constraints.
At a minimum all students are expected to fund transportation costs and personal expenses. These costs can be in excess of $2,000, depending on the personal choices, but students may earn this amount with on-campus employment.
You may be eligible to work while at Connecticut College. However, visa regulations require that you work only on campus. In order to work, you will need to apply for a United States Social Security Card. We will help you with this process once you arrive on campus. If you choose to work, you can probably expect to earn at least $1,750 for the academic year providing you work at least 10 hours per week.
As family financial circumstances change, you must re-apply for financial aid every year. We will remind you and send to you all the necessary forms. If circumstances remain the same, you can expect a similar award for subsequent years. However, this is not a guarantee.
Once you have had time to review your offer of financial aid (if admitted), you are encouraged to contact our staff with your questions. As mail delivery can be problematic, you can also use e-mail or fax.
