Financial Aid Services occasionally receives information about private scholarships offered by outside private organizations. Usually, these scholarships are directed to upperclassmen. In an effort to get this information to you, we list here a brief explanation and Web sites (if available). If there is no Web site available, information will be kept in the Financial Aid Services office.

    BrainTrack

    Brain Track, the oldest and most complete online directory of the world's universities and colleges, is offering a Computer Science Degree Scholarship.  This scholarship also runs two times a year, awarding $1000 for a best essay entry and $500 for the runner-up.

    The Simsbury Woman's Club Scholarships

     The Simsbury Woman's Club offers a $2,000 Scholarship to a Connecticut woman enrolled in an institution of higher learning.  the Gerneral Federation of Women's Clubs of Connecticut offers four $1,000 Scholarships to Connecticut women so enrolled. 

  • Eligible women must have completed two or more years of undergraduate work with a 3.0 or better GPA.

  • Scholarships are awarded on the basis of future promise, financial need and scholastic ability.

    Deadline for receipt of fully completed applications will all supporting material is February 10, 2010.


      2010 Talbots Scholarship Foundation

    In keeping with its long-standing tradition of helping women succeed, the Talbots Charitable Foundation is proud to present the 2010 Talbots Scholarship Foundation and the inaugural Nancy Talbot Scholarship Award for perseverance and ingenuity, which is presented in memory of the founder of Talbots. This program empowers women to enrich themselves through learning and achieve a college education later in life.

    This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services®, a division of Scholarship America®. Scholarship Management Services is the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability or national origin.

    Applicants to the 2010 Talbots Scholarship Foundation must:

    • Be women currently residing in the United States or Canada;
    • Be women who have earned a high school diploma or their GED on or before September 2000;
    • Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full- or part-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited 2- or 4- year college, university, or vocational-technical school;
    • Be attending the full 2010-11 academic year and receiving a degree no earlier than May 2011; and
    • Have at least two semesters (24 credit hours or more) remaining to complete an undergraduate degree as of the beginning of the 2010 fall academic term.

    Talbots Charitable Foundation and Scholarship America employees or family members are not eligible to apply to this program.

    Only the first 5,000 eligible applications submitted will be processed. 

    Applications are available online at https://www.scholarshipamerica.org/talbotswomen starting Monday, October 5, 2009. The deadline for applications is Saturday, January 2, 2010. Only the first 5,000 eligible applications received will be processed.

     


     The Alexis Kate Special Education Teachers Scholarship

    A $500 Scholarship is presented annually to a worthy college Sophomore or Junior who has declared a special education major and has also demonstrated extracurricular commitment to the field. This award is made possible through the fund-raising efforts of Steve Nelson, whose niece was diagnosed with autism at 17 months of age and subsequently received early intervention services through Eden's infant and toddler program. Mr. Nelson rode his bike 1,800 miles from New Jersey-to-Florida in order to raise money to create an endowed scholarship fund for students planning special education careers.
