Arrival Day and Orientation

Arrival Day is Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, when you'll move in and get settled. Orientation begins that evening and runs through Monday. Your student advisers and other student leaders will help you get settled and acquainted with the campus, your residence hall, dining halls, the library, the athletic center, clubs and organizations, traditions and even the lingo of Connecticut College.

If you are an international student, you may wish to participate in Odyssey, a pre-orientation program for first-year international students and their families.

Genesis is an optional, but highly recommended, pre-orientation program designed for underrepresented students, including students of color and students who are the first in their families to attend a four-year college.

If you participate in either Odyssey or Genesis, you will arrive a day earlier than other first-year students.

When do I register for classes?

Upon arrival, during Orientation, you'll meet with your Advising Team, which consists of your pre-major faculty adviser, a staff adviser and student advisers. Your team will introduce you to the Connections program, help you select courses, and show you how to register for classes on your own. Course registration will take place on Monday, Aug. 28, 2017.

What about placement tests, info sessions and auditions for various courses?

Placement tests and auditions are scheduled over an extended period of time so that you make take more than one. They are important if you intend to continue in any of these areas at any time over the next four years. All levels of ability are encouraged to participate. If you miss a session, please contact the chair of that department.

View the schedule of all placement tests, info sessions and auditions taking place before and during Orientation.

When do classes begin?

Classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017. Have a look at the academic calendar 2017-2018 for all the important dates in your first year at Conn.
