On October 22, 2004, the Board of Trustees approved Connecticut College 2011, a new strategic plan to prepare the College for its second century of excellence. Building on existing strengths, the plan enhances the educational program, campus facilities and the diverse community that support the educational experience.

The strategic plan was an initiative of Norman Fainstein, president of the college from 2001-2006.
