Letter to the class
March 2008
Dear Classmates,
At our 30th Reunion, a number of us met at Buck Lodge to discuss our lives and how the Women's Movement had influenced them. We thought it would be interesting to continue this exploration at our 40th Reunion. In speaking with the College staff who are coordinating our event, we learned that last year the Class of '67 had filled out a shortened version of the questionnaire Betty Friedan had given her classmates in 1957 for their 15th Reunion at Smith College (which led to the Feminine Mystique). Professor of Sociology, Frances Hoffmann, analyzed the responses and gave a presentation at Reunion.
We thought that it might be interesting for us to use an even more abbreviated version of the questionnaire to get some basic information about our lives to serve as a jumping off point for discussion. Many open-ended questions have been removed to ease the process of tabulation, but you are encouraged to add any comments at the end, which might add to our understanding of where we are as women at this point in our lives, and to explore what lies ahead for us and the generations that come after us. Even if you do not plan to attend Reunion, we would love to have your feed-back on this topic.
We are asking you to complete this survey online through Survey Monkey. Just click here and follow the directions. We apologize for the unwieldy address but once there you will find the survey is a quick and easy process. If you do not have a computer, you can visit your local library or internet café and complete it there. You do not have to have e-mail for this survey, and we really want to hear from you!
With warmest wishes,
Helen C. Epps '68
