Letter from the Reunion Planning Committee

December 2007

Connecticut College is among the finest liberal arts colleges in the nation. Under the new leadership of President Lee Higdon, our College gained momentum in 2006-07 - and there's more good news to come in the year ahead. Here are just a few of our recent achievements:

  • The College launched a new alumni online community to make it easier for us to catch up with our old friends and network with new ones.

  • More than $9 million was invested in campus improvements this summer alone. Next time you visit you'll see improvements in classroom technology, infrastructure, residence halls and more. I encourage you to call the school to schedule a tour if you are ever in the area.

  • 2007 was a record year in admission, with applications up 11 percent overall, including a 22 percent increase from students of color.

  • Four graduating seniors and several alumni won Fulbright awards.

  • National media reported on our new president, our students' research, and the value of a Connecticut College education.

  • President Higdon has said that a liberal arts education is the best preparation for a life of meaning and consequence. I also encourage you to go to www.connecticutcollege.edu to see more about the achievements of our fellow alumni. We are engaged in the world, and making a real difference in our professions and communities. Today's students look to us for support and inspiration.

Mark your calendar and come back to campus for our 25th Reunion next May 30-June 1. Our class Reunion Committee has already started working on plans for the weekend. If you have any ideas or would like to help, just let me know.

Please stay connected and involved, and spread the good news about Connecticut College. I ask you, also, to please join me in supporting Connecticut College with a celebratory gift in honor of our 25th Reunion. Our commitment makes it possible for the College to provide the kind of education that transforms students, and through them, changes the world.

    Sincerely,

    Dan Wistman '83
    Class Agent Chair
