Alumni and Students of Color Connections

The CCAC Mentoring Program seeks to build substantive, sustainable relationships between students and alumni of color. Through these relationships, alumni can share advice and guidance based on their own career and life experiences - linking the college experience with potential academic and professional pursuits.

Student and alumni matches are made through collaboration with the Alumni Relations office and the CCAC Committee of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

What does mentoring involve?

  • Take the initiative - alumni mentors must make initial contact with mentee within one week of assignment.
  • Establish expectations - alumni mentors must communicate with mentee at least once every two weeks.
  • Be willing to share - alumni mentors must be willing to share career and life experiences in order to provide perspective to students.
  • Keep us in the loop - alumni mentors must complete a feedback form at the end of each academic semester in order to provide input for continuous improvement of the program. Mentor must also inform the Office of Alumni Relations as soon as possible if unable to continue on with the program.
