I'm incredibly happy with my decision to go to a liberal arts school. I've wanted to be an actor for a long time, and I chose to come to Connecticut College rather than go to a conservatory because I wanted to major in both theater and English and to be in an academic setting. I think you become a better actor if you're more well-rounded and educated as a person. And being in an environment where I'm surrounded by people with so many different interests and passions has expanded my worldview and absolutely informed my work in the theater.

Every year one senior is chosen to direct a main stage production. This year I was lucky enough to be that student. We had a five-week production process - I cast the play, 'Uncle Vanya,' rehearsed six days a week and got to work with a fantastic team of student and faculty designers and technicians. It was my first big directing project, and I was tremendously proud of everyone involved. There is a ton of room for taking initiative here - many opportunities for collaboration. I know I've really grown here.

Being an English major also has been important to my development as a critically thinking person. The writing and thinking skills I've learned in my English classes are useful in every aspect of life, and the communication skills I've developed are really applicable to work in the theater. There are so many parallels between the two subjects. But I haven't been limited to just English and theater in my studies at this College. One of my favorite classes here was biology. I really loved it. My one regret is that I don't have more time to spend here.
