Club Sports and Intramurals

Numerous club sports and intramural teams provide opportunities for students seeking athletic outlets without the demands of varsity commitments. Taken together, more than 75% of the student body participates in athletics at this level. Club sports are formally organized and run by students with financial support from the Student Government Association. Club teams organize scheduled games, events and tournaments with club or junior varsity programs at other New England colleges. Club sport offerings include baseball, cycling, equestrian, golf, men's ice hockey, women's ice hockey, men's lacrosse, outing club, women's rugby, skiing, men's indoor soccer, women's indoor soccer, softball and ultimate frisbee.

Purely recreational in nature, Connecticut College's intramural program encourages fitness, skill-building, sportsmanship, and friendly competition. This allows all members of the College community to participate, and indeed they do- more than 1,000 students, faculty members, and staff compete in intramural sports. Divided into four mini-seasons during the academic year, the program includes leagues, tournaments and single-day events for men and women in basketball, flag football, floor hockey, racquetball, soccer, softball, squash, team tennis and volleyball. Students can also participate in intramural events as dorm representatives, commissioners, officials, and statisticians.
