Head
Coach Eighth Season
Eva Kovach begins her eighth season as the head women's rowing coach at Connecticut College.
A 1993 graduate of Clark University in Worcester, Mass., Kovach captained the women's crew from 1991-93 and was named the team's most valuable oarswoman in 1992.
Kovach earned her first coaching position at Union College in Schenectady, New York. She then went on to coach the United States Coast Guard Academy and Georgetown University.
Within the athletic department Kovach also holds the positions of Associate Director of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator and Adjunct Instructor of Physical Education.
In addition to her involvement with national events Kovach has also worked at numerous international regattas. During the 1999 FISA World Rowing Championships she was part of the FISA Rigging Survey Team. For the past 3 summers Kovach has acted as the US Liaison to Henley Women's Regatta in Henley-on-Thames, UK.
In November 2003, Kovach attended the FISA World Coaches Conference in Athens, Greece. While in Athens Kovach had the opportunity to interview with the 2004 Athens Olympic Committee for a position at the rowing venue during the Olympic Games. She was offered the position of Field of Play Assistant to the Olympic Rowing Venue Competition Team.
While working at the course Kovach was responsible for the daily operations of the course and assisting with lightweight and coxswain weigh-ins. In May 2005, Kovach worked at the FISA World Cup Regatta at Dorney Lake, Eton, UK. She returned to the UK to work as part of the Control Commission Team for the 2006 World Rowing Championships.
While in the UK during the summer of 2005, Kovach coached the masters women of Maidenhead Rowing Club, Maidenhead, UK. Kovach also serves as the U.S. liaison for the Women ’s Henley Regatta
Assistant
Coach First Season
Susan Cohen, a 2006 graduate of The Ohio State University, enters her first season as assistant women's rowing coach at Connecticut College. A native of Milford, Connecticut, Cohen was a four-year contributor to the Buckeye’s varsity rowing program. Cohen had a productive career in Columbus and contributed to her team’s Big Ten, NCAA and South\Central Regional Championships.
