Bill McNally has been named the men’s and women's squash coach at Connecticut College. McNally returns to the program after coaching the last year abroad in Scotland. McNally will be entering his seventh season with the Camel athletic program.
Under McNally's tutelage, the Camel men’s and women's teams have gained regional and national prominence, earning honors and awards while building a winning record. In 2004, the Camel men’s team received the Barnaby Trophy as the most improved team in the United States. McNally directed the Camel women to a highly successful 21-7 record in 2006 and the men to a 14-10 record.
McNally was selected by the Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) to lead the 2006 United States team to the World University Squash Championships in Szeged, Hungary where the US finished fourth out of 15 nations.
McNally was named the 2006 Coach of the Year-Squash by the United States Olympic Committee.
A Squash Canada Certified Level 3 coach, McNally was very active in the United States Squash Racquets Association (USSRA) coaching development program, teaching the clinics for 10 years prior to his stint in Scotland.
In Edinburgh, McNally worked with the coaches of the Scottish National Teams at Heriot-Watt University and coaches from England, Wales, and Ulster to develop the curriculum for the UK Level 3 Coaching Certification.
At the completion of the Scottish phase, McNally will continue consultation to English Squash on the development of the UK Level 4 curriculum.
"I am thrilled to be returning to Connecticut College,” McNally stated. “Although working on these coaching programs is extremely interesting and informative, my first passion is on-court coaching. It is very exciting to come back to coaching after a year of exchanging information with the top coaches in squash."
A frequent presenter at coaching conferences world-wide, McNally is the author of numerous papers and studies. McNally is a 1969 graduate of the University of Maryland where he majored in mathematics and finance.
