Women's Cross Country Coach
Head Coach Ned Bishop - 27th Season
Since taking over the women's cross country program at Connecticut College in 1985, Ned Bishop has led the squad to consistent success in New England Division III competition.
The Camels have defeated over 70 percent of their opponents in dual and invitational meets and have annually vied for a spot among the top ten teams in the region. The team was nationally ranked during the 2000 and 2001 seasons and again received votes in the national poll during both the 2005 and 2006 campaigns. The program has produced several individual NCAA qualifiers and All-America selections in recent years. Two former team members, Katie McGee '95 and Maura Danahy '02, qualified for the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon.
Bishop is also the head coach of the men's and women's track & field teams at Connecticut College. His women's squad has won a New England Division III outdoor team championship and 34 of his athletes have won individual NESCAC, ECAC and New England titles. His track & field athletes have earned 42 NCAA national qualifying marks, and five of them have garnered All-America honors during the past three years.
Bishop graduated from Connecticut College in 1984 after a four-year cross country and track career. He served as the team captain and was named the Most Valuable Runner of the cross country team in his senior year. Bishop recently completed a four-year term on the NCAA Division III Track & Field and Cross Country Committee.
Molly Powell - Assistant Coach - First Season
Molly Powell, a 2011 graduate of Springfield College and a native of Waterford, Connecticut, joins the cross country coaching staff this fall. She ran cross country and track at Springfield and qualified for the New England Division III Championship in the 10,000 meters last spring. Powell's experience and enthusiasm will be counted upon to enhance the fortunes of the team this year.
