Head Coach Kristin Steele - 11th Season

Kristin Steele

Kristin Steele enters her 11th season as the head women's ice hockey coach at Connecticut College. Under Steele’s direction, the Camels have developed into a contender in the talent-rich New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

Under Steele's direction, the 2010-2011 Camels finished 12-11-2 with an 8-7-1 mark in the NESCAC, earning a spot in the conference championship tournament for an unprecedented fourth consecutive year. Steele welcomed one of the strongest recruiting classes in the nation, including Courtney Dumont '15, the 2011 NESCAC Rookie of the Year.

In 2009, Steele’s Camels made their inaugural appearance in the conference semi-finals. The Camels gained momentum during a critical stretch of the season at the end of January, reeling off four consecutive wins.  Connecticut College has qualified for the post-season tournament in three of the past four years.

Prior to joining the Camel program, Steele spent three years as the assistant women's ice hockey coach and recruiting coordinator at Niagara University and helped build the Purple Eagles into a top 10 Division I program. She began her collegiate coaching career in 1997 as an assistant for the women's ice hockey program at Colgate University.

Before her arrival at Colgate, she spent three years at her prep school alma mater, Northfield Mount Hermon in Massachusetts. In 1996, Steele was the head coach of the varsity ice hockey team at Northfield Mount Hermon. She also served as an assistant coach for the soccer and softball teams while teaching environmental studies and biology.

Along with her collegiate coaching duties, Steele has coached at the USA Hockey Girls U-19 and the U-14 festivals. From 2001-2007, Steele worked at the Empire State Games in New York, coaching the gold and silver medal-winning Western teams. Steele has also worked as an evaluator for numerous U.S. hockey districts. She served as the lead coach of the Atlantic District Select 34 camp and the New York state development camp at Morrisville. In September of 2004, Steele was appointed to the NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Committee and chaired the East Region for a two years.

A native of Gill, Mass., Steele is a 1994 graduate of the University of Maine. At Maine, Steele was a four-year member of the women's ice hockey program, a three-year captain, and a First Team AWCHA selection on defense. She also competed on the Black Bear softball team and was a second Team All-North Atlantic Conference selection in 1993. Steele earned NAC All-Academic Team honors in '93.

Steph Moberg-Assistant Coach-Second Season

Steph Moberg, a 2010 graduate of Plattsburgh State University, enters her second season as the assistant women's hockey coach at Connecticut College.  A two-time All-American for the Cardinals, Moberg helped lead her squad to a four-year record of 97-11-7 that included back-to-back national championships in 2007 and 2008. At the conlusion of her career, Moberg was honored as the runner up for the Laura Hurd Award, which is presented annually to the most valuable  player in Division III women's hockey. A native of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Moberg graduated with a degree in geography.
