Joshua Edmed

Head Coach •

Sixth Season

Joshua Edmed enters his sixth season as the head women's volleyball coach at Connecticut College.

Edmed has directed the Camels to back-to-back playoff appearances in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament. During that timeframe, Conn. has posted a 13-7 (.650) mark in NESCAC play, with an overall record of 36-19.

In 2006, the Camels advanced to the semifinal round of the NESCAC Championship. Caitlin Tomaska '09 was named first team All-NESCAC.

In 2005, Edmed led the Camels to a 16-10 record and the program’s first appearance in the NESCAC post-season tournament. Edmed’s recruiting class made an immediate impact. Tomaska Tomaska was honored as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year.

Prior to his arrival at Connecticut College, Edmed was the head coach at Iowa Wesleyan. At Iowa Wesleyan in 2001, Edmed posted a 16-16 record, with four players earning All-Conference accolades and one athlete garnering All-America recognition. Edmed also served as director for the sport management program at the college.


Edmed received his Bachelor's and Master's degree at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. Playing an integral role in two Division III men's volleyball national championship clubs with the Pride, Edmed captured his first championship as a senior in 1997. After returning to his alma mater as a graduate-assistant coach in 1999, Edmed assisted in the coordination of a program that captured the 2001 title.

Edmed has been involved with a variety of clinics and grass roots youth programs throughout his career. In 2004, Edmed started the Connecticut College Volleyball Camp which has been instrumental in developing youth volleyball in the area. Edmed has also served as an NCAA YES (Youth Education Through Sports) Counselor. He resides in New London with his wife Winnie, who serves as the head coach of women’s soccer at Connecticut College.

Erin Reding

Assistant Coach •

Second Season

Erin Reding, a 2006 graduate of Wesleyan University, enters her second season as assistant volleyball coach at Connecticut College. Reding enjoyed a stellar playing career for the Cardinals and ranks among the top 10 in kills (1137), hitting efficiency (25%), service aces (221), blocks (415), and points served (789). In 2002, Reding was honored as the Vida Long Award Winner. The award is presented to the Cardinal that contributes the most to the program, on and off the court of play. As an art history major, Reding excelled in the classroom as a high honors Dean's List student. At Wesleyan, Reding also served as the head coach of the men's club volleyball team for the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
