Head Coach Joshua Edmed - Eighth Season
Joshua Edmed enters his eighth season as the head women's volleyball coach at Connecticut College and was elevated to the senior management position of Associate Director of Athletics in July of 2009.
Edmed achieved a career milestone in 2008, notching his 100th victory at Connecticut College. In the past four years, Edmed has directed the Camels to a 74-35 record, compiling a 65% winning percentage (26-14) in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matches. Connecticut College recorded back-to-back 20 win seasons in 2006 and 2007, advancing to the semifinal round of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament two years in a row.
In 2005, Edmed led the Camels to a 16-10 record and the program's first appearance in the NESCAC post-season tournament. Edmed’s talented recruiting class made an immediate impact. Caitlin Tomaska '09 was honored as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. Tomaska garnered All-NESCAC Honors for four consecutive years, landing on the first team for three consecutive seasons from 2006-2008.
Prior to his arrival at Connecticut College, Edmed was the head coach at Iowa Wesleyan. At Iowa Wesleyan in 2001, Edmed posted a 16-16 record, with four players earning All-Conference accolades and one athlete garnering All-America recognition. Edmed also served as director for the sport management program at the college.
Edmed received his Bachelor's and Master's degree at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. Playing an integral role in two Division III men's volleyball national championship clubs with the Pride, Edmed captured his first championship as a senior in 1997. After returning to his alma mater as a graduate-assistant coach in 1999, Edmed assisted in the coordination of a program that captured the 2001 title.
Edmed has been involved with a variety of clinics and grass roots youth programs throughout his career. In 2004, Edmed started the Connecticut College Volleyball Camp which has been instrumental in developing youth volleyball in the area. Edmed has also served as an NCAA YES (Youth Education Through Sports) Counselor. He resides in Old Lyme with his wife Winnie, who serves as the head coach of women’s soccer at Connecticut College.
Assistant Coach Margo Linton - Second Season
Margo Linton, a 2008 Graduate of Bowdoin College, enters her second season as the assistant women’s volleyball coach at Connecticut College.
Linton enjoyed a prolific playing career in the NESCAC, serving as a captain and four-year starter for the Bowdoin College Polar Bears. Linton set the school record for assists (3215) and aces (191) in a career, leading her team to back-to-back winning seasons and NESCAC Tournament appearances in 2006 and 2007.
In the spring of 2008, Linton received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. She earned her teaching certificate in secondary mathematics at Bowdoin.
Off the court, Linton stayed involved with other facets of campus life, working as a resident assistant in the college dorms. As a senior student-athlete, Linton publicized Bowdoin’s annual Girls and Women in Sports Day, bringing more than 200 girls to campus for a day of athletic activities with Bowdoin female athletes.
Linton is a native of Menlo Park, California. Her brother Paul is a junior at Wesleyan University.
