NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College athletic program has enjoyed its share of excitement this fall. Three of the four conference standing teams qualified for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament in their respective sports. Both soccer clubs qualified on the final day of the season. The Camel men´s soccer team erased a 1-0 deficit with just 11 seconds left in regulation against Tufts and went on to pull out the overtime victory, reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2000. In Sunday´s women´s soccer playoff game at Tufts a large group of student-athletes and alumni showed their support for the team. Friday night at 8:00 p.m., the Camel volleyball team takes their turn on the center stage at Amherst College. »

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College volleyball team (19-7, 7-3) split a pair of NESCAC matches at Luce Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon. Williams College defeated the Camels 3-0. Game Scores were 30-25, 30-17 and 32-30. The Camels defeated Hamilton 3-1 in the second match with game scores of 30-15, 26-30, 30-26 and 30-22, finishing the regular season with a record of 7-3 in NESCAC play. The Camels will be making their third consecutive appearance in the conference championship tournament. Connecticut College will play Friday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m. against Wesleyan University in a Quarterfinal match-up at Amherst College. »

The Connecticut College volleyball program continued its surge to the top of the NESCAC and New England Rankings in 2005. Under the direction of head coach Josh Edmed, the Camels finished the season with an overall record of 16-10, compiling a 6-4 mark in NESCAC play. The NESCAC finish placed them in a tie for third place in the final regular season conference standings. This marks the highest NESCAC finish ever for the Camel volleyball program. The team also received recognition in the New England Region rankings for the first time in program history. The Camels cracked the top 15 early in the season with a win over conference foe and nationally ranked Williams College, maintaining their spot among the top tier of clubs throughout the season. The regular season culminated with a 3-0 blanking of Amherst College in the final conference match of the year. »

Tomaska was also honored as a second team selection on the NESCAC All-Conference squad. A 2005 graduate of Torrey Pines High School, Tomaska led her team with 298 kills and 50 service aces. The Camels finished 6-4 in the NESCAC and 16-10 overall, making a full five game improvement in the conference standings from the previous season. »

9/20/05 Caitlin Tomaska Named NESCAC Player of the Week
New London, Conn.--Connecticut College freshman outside hitter Caitlin Tomaska of Solana Beach, California has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Tomaska, a 2005 graduate of Torrey Pines High School, recorded 53 kills with just 12 errors on 116 attempts this week, registering a .353 hitting percentage with an average of 3.8 kills per game. In a victory against #21 Williams College, Tomaska rallied the Camels from a 2-0 deficit, finishing with 19 kills, 17 digs, two blocks and two service aces. »

New London, Conn. --The Connecticut College Camels (5-2, 2-1 NESCAC) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat #21 Williams College (6-2, 3-1) in a New England Small College Athletic Conference quad match played at Middlebury, Vt. Saturday morning. Senior captain Molly Kawachi (New York, N.Y.) led the Camels with 50 assists, 14 digs and two service aces in the come from behind victory.
