President Fainstein portrait to be unveiled
The College community is cordially invited to join President Lee Higdon Wednesday, April 25, for a reception honoring President Emeritus Norman Fainstein and the unveiling of Fainstein’s official presidential portrait. The reception begins at 4 p.m., with the unveiling scheduled for approximately 4:15 p.m. in the Ernst Common Room, Blaustein Humanities Center.

Fainstein served as president of Connecticut College from 2001 to 2006. During his presidency he regularly taught a course in urban sociology and history. In the fall of 2007 he became chair of the Sociology department and taught courses in urban sociology and sociological theory, as well as a freshman seminar on suburbia. Fainstein retired from teaching in 2010.

Immediately following the ceremony, there will be a special lecture by Fainstein’s colleague John R.Logan, professor of sociology at Brown University.

Connecticut College has 9 Fulbrights so far, a new record
Connecticut College, previously named as a top producer of U.S. Fulbright students by The Chronicle of Higher Education, has set a new College record with nine Fulbrights announced so far. So far this year we have students going to the UK, Italy, Germany, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Mexico.

Fulbright fellows receive round-trip transportation to the host country, a living stipend, research allowances and medical insurance.
