Class of '11 sets a record: 98%

President Higdon displays a Class of 2011 T-shirt as he addresses seniors at a gala celebrating their Annual Fund achievement in May.

More than 98 percent of the Class of 2011 supported the College through the Annual Fund in 2010-11 -- an all-time record for a graduating class.

President Higdon congratulated the seniors at a gala celebrating their achievement the week before Commencement. He told them their commitment to the College sets an important example for other classes.

The class accomplished the record with a strong effort by a Senior Giving Committee of 15 dedicated students. They made a compelling case to support the College and organized a series of events and communications to get their message across.

Because the class met its goal, Tom Sargent '82, a trustee and chair of the Annual Fund, added $25,000 to their gift.

The Annual Fund is pushing toward achieving 45 percent participation by alumni. Sargent points out that with gifts from all those who gave to the College last year, participation would be even higher -- 50 percent. All classes can come together in the effort.

“Each and every gift, no matter the size, counts. Truly, all gifts add up to make a big difference," he says.

The year ends on June 30 so there's still time to be part of this year's effort. To make a gift go to http://giving.conncoll.edu.
