Hourly Administrative Addendum
This addendum applies to all hourly paid administrative staff.
 Adjustment Period
Hourly staff are in an adjustment period status for the first 90 calendar days of active employment, reemployment or when there is a change from one position to another. During the adjustment period there is a reduction in pay of $ .50 per hour. Upon successful completion of the adjustment period, the rate will be increased to the standard amount.
Vacation is accrued according to the following schedule if you are regularly scheduled to work a minimum of 1000 hours per year. Vacation cannot be used until the successful completion of your 90-day adjustment period. Vacation cannot be used before it is earned.
Years of Service Vacation Days Monthly Accrual
through 5 years 10 working days 6.66 hours
over 5-through 10 15 working days 10.00 hours
over 10-through 15 20 working days 13.33 hours
over 15 23 working days 15.33 hours
It is important that the department is appropriately staffed at all times and that the actual vacation times taken are recorded and kept on file. You must submit your vacation request to your supervisor in advance and the leave must be for no less than a half-day period. Scheduling of such leave is subject to the department head's approval.
The first of the month following an employee's hire date or transfer to a benefits-eligible position determines the date for calculating the years of service for vacation accruals.
If employment is terminated before six months of service, you are not eligible for accrued vacation.
 Sick Pay
All academic and calendar year employees who work a minimum schedule of 1000 hours per year accrue sick time at a rate of 5.94 hours per month (ten days per year).
Sick time may be carried forward up to a maximum accrual of 120 days.
 Paid Holidays
If you are regularly scheduled to work a minimum of 1000 hours per year you are eligible to be paid for the following holidays:
New Year's DayIndependence DayThanksgiving DayChristmas Eve
Memorial DayLabor DayDay after ThanksgivingChristmas Day
Martin Luther King Day
Full-time staff will receive a regular days pay for each of the above holidays; part-time staff (less than 40 hours per week) will receive pro-rated pay. Example of pro-rated pay: 5 days @ 6 hours = 30 hours per week will receive holiday pay of 6 hours; 4 days @ 7.5 hours = 30 hours per week will receive holiday pay of 6 hours. If you are a non-exempt staff member and are required to work on any of the above holidays, with supervisory approval you will be granted equivalent time off at a mutually agreeable time within the same pay period or you will be paid time and a half.
 President's Discretionary Time
At the President's discretion, additional paid days may be granted. You may not accumulate discretionary days nor will you receive compensation for them if you terminate your employment. You may take discretionary time only at the discretion of the department head, based on the needs of the department.
