Connecticut College offers a Modified Duty Program for all employees who incur a work-related injury and for all benefits eligible employees who incur a non-work related injury, illness or impairment. The program details are as follows:
The employee must contact his/her supervisor or the Manager of Wellness/Occupational Health at ext. 2793 to request participation in the program.
The Manager of Wellness/Occupational Health will provide the treating medical professional with a physical description of the employee's regular job along with a physical capabilities form requesting that the medical professional provide details of any restrictions, how long the restrictions are required, and the expected date of return to regular duty.
If a modified duty position is available to the employee, the request is granted for as long as the modified duty position is available up to a maximum of 10 weeks.
If no modified position is available or if the modified duty position is of short duration, the employee should refer to the "Leave Benefits" section of this handbook.
To requalify for the modified duty program, an employee must return to work and perform the essential functions of their job with or without accommodation.
