The Roth Writing Center at Connecticut College provides one-to-one peer tutoring to help writers of all abilities during every stage of the writing process. The Writing Center is staffed by peer writing consultants, also known as "tutors", from a variety of academic majors who take an intensive semester-long training course on the teaching of writing. Consultants engage in discourse with a writer in an effort to understand the intent of the writer and ensure that his or her ideas are being fully represented by the paper. Assisting each student to develop a cohesive paper with clearly presented ideas is the primary goal of the Writing Center. Whether it is thesis development, sentence structure, grammatical issues or citation methods, the Writing Center staff is available to respond to the needs of all students.
