Sacred Spaces on Campus

Sacred Spaces

The beautiful Connecticut College campus offers several "Sacred Spaces" for spiritual practice and individual reflection that are open to the College community, and surrounding communities.

Harkness Chapel, in the chapel sanctuary or in the downstairs library

The Ad Astra Garden, sundial, at the top of the college green, the Shain Library amphitheatre, the Winged Victory statue in the area between Harkness and Jane Adams residence halls. There is a prayer room in Larrabee residence hall  for Conn students only.

The 9/11 Garden located just off the College green between Bill Hall and Fanning Hall

The Greenhouse located between New London Hall and Fanning Hall

Rocky, wooded, 40-acre Mamacoke Island in the Thames River, attached to the mainland by a small tidal salt marsh, and part of the Connecticut College Arboretum

The verdant Connecticut College Arboretum and rustic Buck Lodge close by the Arboretum pond

The Caroline Black Garden in the Arboretum across from the main College entrance, cited by the international organization Gardens for Peace as a place that promotes and achieves peace in the world through the universal language of gardens.
