North Campus

North Campus is the home of "the Plex," six houses that are all connected to Harris Refectory, the largest dining facility on campus. The east side of the Plex is made up of Morrisson, Lambdin and Hamilton houses. The west side is made up of Wright, Park and Johnson (formerly Marshall) houses. A big advantage to living in the Plex is having Harris dining hall close by, especially during the winter! The Plex is also close to the College Center at Crozier-Williams, six tennis courts, and the North parking lot.

Central Campus

Central Campus is very appealing to residents, as it is seconds from the College Center at Crozier-Williams ("Cro") and Shain Library, and only minutes from Harris Dining Hall. Central Campus consists of eight houses: Blackstone, Branford, Burdick, Katharine Blunt (KB), Larrabee, Plant, Smith & Windham. The Quad is made up of Blackstone, Branford and Plant, the first houses to be built at Connecticut College. Their small size lends closeness to the residents' sense of community. The Quad is not far from Unity House, the College's multicultural center.

Windham is a desirable place to live since it is the most centrally located house on campus. Windham is located between the Blaustein Humanities Center and Shain Library. Smith and Burdick are located across from Shain Library, as are Branford and Plant. While the former pair of buildings are connected, the latter are not. KB is located directly across from the College Center at Crozier-Williams ("Cro"). The Coffee Grounds, the student run coffee house, is located in KB. Adjacent to KB, Larrabee houses approximately 120 students, making it the largest residential house on campus.

Lazrus House is located behind Harkness Chapel and offers only single rooms, with a full kitchen located on the ground level. Warnshuis (quiet house) is located right next to Lazrus, next to the Student Health and Student Counseling centers. The students living in Warnshuis are under the guidance of the Lazrus/Warnshuis Housefellow and participate actively in the House Council for these two buildings.

South Campus

There are four houses in South campus: Jane Addams (JA), Freeman, Harkness and Knowlton. Many academic buildings are also located in South Campus, including Bill Hall, Cummings Arts Center, Palmer Auditorium, Fanning Hall and New London Hall. Abbey House and River Ridge Apartments are also part of South Campus, as they are located a three- minute walk away, across Route 32. These housing options are open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Please see more about these last two housing options in the Specialty Housing section.

South Campus is a popular place to live because of its proximity to the academic buildings and the character of the older houses. The dining halls are smaller and more personal (but you do not have to live in South to eat in their dining halls) and offer a nice change from Harris Refectory. Some students in Freeman have a great view of Long Island Sound and sporting events like soccer, field hockey and lacrosse games, which are played on Harkness and Tempel Greens.
