Appointments
The Student Counseling Services is located in the Warnshuis Building and is open weekdays Monday - Thursday 9am-7pm, Friday 9am-5pm during the academic year. It is closed during college vacations and holiday, and during the summer break.
Student having mental health emergencies after hours may contact their Housefellow or Campus Safety for support or to access other services. The on-call Student Counseling Services clinician will be contacted as needed.
Scheduling Appointments
Students are able to schedule appointments by contacting the Student Counseling Services in person or by calling Katie the Administrative Assistant at 860-439-4587. Students are assigned to a clinician for an initial evaluation. If ongoing counseling seems appropriate after the initial evaluation, the staff may recommend individual or group psychotherapy or both. Some students may be referred to the consulting psychiatrist or to Student Health Services for medication evaluation. In some cases, students may be referred to off-campus service providers for more intensive or specialized treatment. The staff will make every effort to see students promptly who do not have a scheduled appointment yet have immediate needs.
Missed Appointments
Because demand for counseling appointments is considerable, a 24-hour notice is required to cancel an appointment. Students who do not keep a scheduled appointment or who cancel the appointment without appropriate notice will be charged a fee for missed appointments. They should contact the Student Counseling Services in person, or call the Administrative Assistant at 860-439-4587.
