Student advisers help with the internship and job search process
The CELS Fellow program provides a highly trained para-professional student staff to augment the services of the professional CELS counselors. The student staff's training expertise includes e-Portfolio development, résumé and cover letter critique. CELS fellows assist at all workshops and they are available for individual appointments.

Senior CELS Fellows | Junior CELS Fellows
Michael Dooley is a Senior CELS Fellow from Rye, New York. He is currently pursuing a major in International Relations. During the 2009 summer he interned at Mackenzie Partners, Inc. a corporate governance firm specializing in proxy solicitation. Over the 2010 summer he interned at Bloomberg LP in the Bloomberg tradebook department. He is also seeking to co-author a paper with Professor of Government, William Rose. At Connecticut College Michael is involved in the Student Government Association, serving as president of his freshman class and as a dorm senator in his sophomore year. During the 2009-2010 school year he held a seat on several committees including the Academic and Administrative Procedures Committee and Calendar Committee. Currently, Michael is a Floor Governor and studied abroad in China during the spring semester of 2011. Anna Kaufman is a Senior CELS Fellow from upstate New York majoring in biology with a concentration in ecology. She is also a scholar in the Goodwin-Niering Center for the Environment. As a participant in this academic center, Anna will complete a project on the effects of controlled eco-tourism on marine mammals. Anna has a love of the natural environment and is extremely passionate about conservation. She volunteers at the aquarium as a docent, a member of the veterinary team and with the Seal Rescue Clinic. Sara Kerney is a Senior CELS Fellow from Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Sara is double majoring in international relations and psychology, and she is writing a thesis in psychology this year. The fall semester of her junior year, Sara studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain, and loved every minute of it! She loves to sing and does so in her a cappella group, Vox Cameli, while acting as their business manager, too. This past summer, Sara completed her internship at New York State Psychiatric Institute, where she deepened her understanding of clinical psychology and research. Abbe Schickner is a Senior CELS Fellow from Norwich, Vermont. She is completing a major in biology and a minor in mathematics. She studied abroad in Scotland at the University of Edinburgh during the fall of 2010. During this past summer Abbe interned with the Sababa Charitable Trust in Virar India, where she traveled to various slum villages in Virar providing medical assistance. Thomas Schrader is a Senior CELS Fellow from East Haven, Connecticut. He is pursuing a double major in Human Development and Sociology. He is also a scholar in the Holleran Center’s Program in Community Action (PICA), with a focus on empowering youth through changing social norms. Thomas did his internship in Washington D.C. through The Fund for American Studies, specifically the Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service (IPVS). The goal of IPVS is to bring together “students who are involved in volunteer activities and are excited about exploring professional opportunities in the nonprofit sector.” In addition to taking two courses on the value and ethics of non-profit work at Georgetown University, Thomas also interned at the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) as a Communications and Community Outreach Intern. Thomas has spent past breaks interning at an attorney's office as a paralegal's assistant, at his congresswoman's district office as a congressional assistant, and volunteering as a tutor for inner-city students in New Haven. Thomas also has a close connection with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), serving as a trainer for the organization's summer program for high school students. On campus, Thomas serves as an Honor Council Representative for his class. He also serves a tour guide for admissions, and was one of the initial members of Connecticut College's “1 in 4: Men Against Sexual Assault” chapter. Jeremy Wong is a Senior CELS Fellow from Newton, Massachusetts. Writing a thesis in behavioral economics, he is double majoring in economics and psychology and studied abroad at the University of Melbourne in Melbourne, Australia during the fall of 2010. This past summer for his CELS funded internship, he interned in Boston, MA at Karmaloop, a growing e-commerce company, in the marketing department specializing in consumer behavior. In the past he has also interned in New York City at the Sony Music Company under Jive Records, meeting and working with upcoming artists new to the label in the Artist and Repertoire department. As a captain for the Connecticut College Varsity Squash team and founder of the new hip-hop club on campus, Jeremy’s hobbies also include music, dancing, kung fu, performing various Chinese arts, and relating behavioral economics to his daily life. Meredith Boyle is a Junior CELS Fellow from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She is currently pursuing a major in International Relations with minors in Economics and French. She has completed internships with The Portsmouth Herald newspaper and with the Office of College Relations as a freelance writer and an Advancement Communications Intern. At Connecticut College, Meredith is a CISLA scholar and the Managing Editor of The College Voice. She will be studying abroad in Paris in the fall of 2011. Madeline Eng is a Junior CELS Fellow from Darien, Connecticut. She is pursuing a major in Environmental Studies and a minor in Architectural Studies. This past fall, Madeline studied abroad at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She loves horses and is a competing rider on the CC Equestrian Team. Gary Kaufman is a Junior CELS from Summit, New Jersey, pursing in a major in Mathematics, minor in Economics, and getting his certification in Elementary Education as well as Secondary Education in Mathematics. As an active participant in Connecticut College’s Office of Volunteer and Community Service, Gary has student taught in a pre-kindergarten, first, second, fourth, and seventh grade classrooms. The past summer he participated in a program through American University concentrating in international finance and business involving an internship while aligning it with a class. Gary is also the manager of the Connecticut College Men’s Lacrosse team as well as during his sophomore year being a floor governor. Laura Marenghi is a Senior CELS Fellow in her first year with CELS, originally from Massachusetts. She is double-majoring in English and Government. In addition to being a CELS Fellow, Laura is a Writing Center Tutor and an Intern in Connecticut College’s Office of Media Relations. For her CELS funded internship, Laura worked for O’Neill and Associates, a government relations and PR firm in Boston. Raymond Palmer is a Junior CELS Fellow, majoring in International Relations with an Environmental Politics concentration. Although his family is from Connecticut, he was born and raised in Osaka, Japan because of his father’s occupation. Being brought up as citizens of both the US and Japan, he was always attentive to international issues, and decided to major in International Relations after taking courses at Connecticut College. He has since served as an International Advisor, and has been involved in Atlas, the international club. Nicknamed “Pocahontas” by his close friends, he also has a strong interest in the environment: hence the Environmental Politics concentration.
