Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

The psychology major has a strong emphasis on research skills and provides students with course work in the areas of clinical, social, and experimental psychology. All students are required to take two introductory courses, a course in psychological statistics, and a course in research methods. Majors must also take a minimum of two laboratory courses.

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology-based Human Relations

The human relations major is dedicated to the proposition that the study of human relations (marriage, family, friendship, lesser personal relationships) can best be approached in a interdisciplinary manner. The program includes courses in psychology, sociology, human development, and other departments, as well as specific courses intended to reflect interdisciplinary approaches.

 

Behavioral Neuroscience

In the Behavioral Neuroscience lab, Trudy Greenwood RTC and Mat Petrin '05 prepare to examine a rat's behavioral responses to predator odor.

The Psychology Department is also home to the Behavioral Neuroscience program. Behavioral Neuroscience major consists of core courses in Psychology, Biological Sciences, and Chemistry. The purpose of the major is to foster an understanding of the neural basis of behavior, which requires some basic understanding of chemistry, psychology, philosophy, molecular biology, and cellular biology.
